The inflammation or\nreferred pain can be due to a variety of reasons, including: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Tooth infections and decay<\/li><li>Tooth loss or injury, including extractions <\/li><li>Wisdom teeth eruption<\/li><li>Gum disease <\/li><li>Sinus infections <\/li><li>Ear or throat pain <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Medications and Root Canals <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The fastest treatment for toothaches is pain medications\nsuch as acetaminophen or ibuprofen. This is not a permanent solution, however,\nand you should seek further medical assistance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If your tooth is infected, your dentist will prescribe\nantibiotics and may want to complete a root canal. This procedure includes the\nuse of special files to remove the unhealthy tissue and blood vessels in the\ncanals of your tooth\u2019s root. Your dentist will then fill the canals and place a\nfilling or a cap-like crown over your tooth to prevent bacteria from\nreentering. Root canals are often no more painful than having a regular filling\nplaced and can relieve you of your toothache within a few days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tooth Extractions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>While you want to keep your natural teeth for a lifetime, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.capronparkdental.com\/tooth-extractions.html\">tooth extraction<\/a>\nmay be necessary to ensure your health. Extractions are recommended for\nmultiple reasons, including cases of an extreme infection (possibly where a\nroot canal failed). Teeth may also need to be pulled if they are loosened by\ngum disease and cannot be supported by the surrounding tissue. In cases of\ncompromised immune systems, including patients undergoing chemotherapy or organ\ntransplants, teeth that simply pose the risk of being infected may be\nextracted. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While tooth extractions may sound like a painful procedure, patients\nare always provided anesthesia and prescribed painkillers for the most\ncomfortable recovery possible. Recovery from an extraction typically takes a\nfew days. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While toothaches are easily addressable, they can be an\nindicator of a larger health problem. Home remedies and over-the-counter painkillers\ncan help bring relief but shouldn\u2019t be your only treatment method.
